Find verified roommates first
Browse solo seekers and public groups looking for members. Profiles stay redacted until you accept contact — the same privacy model landlords play by.
Peer contact is always free
Roommate contact requests cost nothing. Landlords and agents still pay credits to reach the pool — squad matching never does.
Form a household agents can find
Invite people you've connected with (or by email), lock in together, and once you're locked in, verified landlords and agents get notified and reach out — not a half-formed chat thread.
How it works
From a free passport to landlords reaching out to your group — five steps.
Choose roommates intent
On availability, pick "Roommates to rent with," stay open to roommate contact, and verify your ID and mobile.
Browse peers or groups
Filter by area, budget, bedrooms, pets, smoking, and more. Join public groups with open seats, or start from solo passports.
Request contact
Send an optional short message (up to 500 characters). Requests expire after 72 hours; a decline starts a 30-day cooldown.
Form a tentative group
Create or join a household of up to 6. Invite accepted contacts or email people without a passport yet. Save favourites while you decide.
Lock in & get discovered
When every active member locks in, your group is committed — and verified landlords and agents get notified and start reaching out.
You're always in control.
Opt in on your passport
Roommate contact is only on when you choose it. Turn it off any time.
Decline without a reason
A rejection needs no explanation and starts a 30-day cooldown on that person.
Contact shared on accept
Details are exchanged only after you say yes. Ikri is not an in-app chat product.
Report abusive groups
Flag public groups for scam, impersonation, or harassment — the team reviews reports.
Locked-in groups get noticed the same way solo renters do.
Verified landlords and agents get notified about committed groups and reach out with a contact request — the same way they do for solo renters.
A higher trust bar than social apps.
Renting with strangers is a real decision. We gate discovery behind verification so peers meet the same standard as landlords.
Dual verification required
ID + mobile must both be verified before you can browse or contact — so every peer you see has cleared the same bar.
Contact only after accept
Your details are shared only once you accept a request. Nothing leaks from a profile view alone.
Reviewed reports
Report public groups for scam, impersonation, harassment, or other abuse. The team reviews every report.
Find your squad, on your terms.
Build a free passport, find your squad, and become a group landlords compete for. It costs nothing to start.
Questions, answered.
Is roommate matching free?
Yes for tenants. Creating a passport, browsing roommates, and sending or accepting peer contact requests all cost nothing. Landlords and agents pay credits only when they request contact with you or your group.
Do I need to verify?
Yes. Roommate discovery and contact require ID and mobile verification — so peers meet a higher trust bar than anonymous social apps.
How big can a group be?
Between 2 and 6 members. You can hold up to 3 tentative groups at once; committing to one exits the others.
When do agents see my group?
After every member locks in and prefs are confirmed. A short cool-off reduces spam, then verified landlords and agents get notified about your group.
What if someone rejects my request?
They don't need to explain. You generally can't request that person again for 30 days.
Can I invite someone who isn't on Ikri yet?
Yes — email invites expire after 14 days. Once they verify ID and mobile, the invite can become a contact request or group membership.
